Synopsis

It was carnage.

Bodies huddled together. The adults shielding the babies. That’s how the elephants died.

Exterior: African Savannah.

Amid the butchered elephants, clouded by swarms of flies, stands freshman ranger KAYLA VERMA. Angry and defeated.

In a hotheaded reaction, KAYLA confronts the feared crime lord known to control the regional ivory trade. KAYLA is summoned by her Superior. The cautious officer warns Kayla about the disastrous consequences of crossing the crime lord.

KAYLA is taken off patrol and reassigned to a very different duty - escorting wealthy tourists visiting the safari parks. Robbed of purpose, humiliated by her new assignment, a weary and disheartened, KAYLA accompanies local ranger HERMAN KUNENE to a luxury resort. The two rangers meet SIMON LONG, his sister, and friends: Heirs to generations of wealth - brought up in families accustomed to privileges and power.

Soon, the spoiled tourists become bored. LONG and his friends seek a greater thrill than hunting common antelope. Challenging a big game hunting moratorium, LONG and friends demand an elephant and lion hunt. LONG’s sister CYNTHIA - the voice of reason - is ignored.

LONG offers a substantial bribe. Ranger KUNENE is tempted. KAYLA rejects the offer firmly and threatens to report the hunters to the authorities. Desperate for money, KUNENE persuades KAYLA to at least agree to a photo safari. LONG betrays the agreement. When the group approaches the animals, he shoots an elephant in cold blood.

Battered and bruised, KAYLA is released into the Savannah. Given a one-hour head start, she stumbles out into the wilderness. KAYLA quickly realizes she stands little chance against an experienced tracker like KUNENE and LONG’S bodyguard, the weathered ex-mercenary BOHRER, who Cynthia hired.

CYNTHIA fails to bring her brother and his friends back to their senses. She must take sides while KAYLA must learn fast and find ways to fight as her foes close in. To survive, she must rethink her moral code. She must refuse to be the hunted – she must become the hunter.
